Coronavirus Job Retention Scheme announced on 20 March 2020, later extended. Due to stay open until end of October. Changes to the scheme announced on 29 May, first of these introduced on 1 July, next changes due in August (cost sharing)

To give firms flexibility to bring back furloughed workers on a part-time basis

Summary

Businesses can bring furloughed employees back to work on a part-time basis – businesses can decide the hours and shift patterns of employees, with the government continuing to pay 80% of salaries for the hours they do not work.
