Government introduces the Job Entry Targeted Support (JETS) programme to help 'those left jobless due to COVID-19' back into work

Summary

The government announces the introduction of the Job Entry Targeted Support (JETS) programme, first cited in its A Plan for Jobs in July. The programme will target people who have been out of work for 3 months and give them access to 'tailored, flexible support' to help them back into employment. Private providers will offer a range of support, including specialist advice about moving into growing sectors and CV and interview coaching. The programme will also involve helping job hunters through the development of an action plan with a personal work coach, offering peer support and opportunities to build skills. The Department for Work and Pensions is recruiting an additional 13,500 work coaches. The programme begins in a number of counties, with more areas to follow later in the month.
