Government issues notification to health care organisations, GPs, local authorities and national agencies to share information relating to COVID-19

Stated aims

To give health organisations and local authorities the security and confidence to process and share data needed to respond to COVID-19


The Secretary of State for Health and Social Care Matt Hancock issues notices to organisations to process and share information for the purposes of COVID-19, for example enabling notification of members of the public most at risk and advising them to self-isolate. Organisations must still comply with data protection standards and share information according to the legal requirements of the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), and within reason operate within statutory and regulatory boundaries.
