Matt Hancock states that coronavirus risk remains 'moderate' in update to parliament on government response

In a statement to parliament, Health Secretary Matt Hancock updates on government actions and says that the risk remains 'moderate'. New powers introduced to isolate individuals at risk of spreading the virus are part of a 'belt and braces approach to protecting the public'. The NHS is 'well prepared and equipped to deal with this kind of situation'. Funding is announced for vaccine research and NHS response. Hancock says, 'the situation will get worse before it gets better. We will be guided by the science.'
