UK CMOs raise risk of novel coronavirus to public from low to moderate, permitting government to escalate planning

Summary

In a press release from the Department of Health and Social Care (DHSC) the UK's four chief medical officers say they 'consider it prudent for our governments to escalate planning and preparation in case of a more widespread outbreak' of the novel coronavirus and advise an increase of the UK risk level from low to moderate. They say, 'This does not mean we think the risk to individuals in the UK has changed at this stage, but that government should plan for all eventualities.'
